Eastern Texas Roller Rinks Open During Spring Break

Kids in Eastern Texas get to enjoy five full days off of school next week courtesy of Spring Break. Some families use this time to take a vacation, but then there are those trying to save money by enjoying a peaceful “staycation.” Unfortunately, those that take the staycation route tend to get a little stir crazy by Wednesday. You want to offer fun ways to entertain your kids and get them active, but the point of a staycation is to save money, and if you are spending $40 or more a day on entertainment venues, then your budget-friendly week is blown. What do you do? Roller skate!

Budget Friendly Things to do During Spring Break

We have distributed free passes with valid hours everyday of Spring Break, including the weekends, and your Kids Skate Free passes are valid, too. We also offer evening and night skate times with an admission price of only $4 on most nights. Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. is our Take It Back Tuesday night that features $1 admission and other $1 deals on concessions. Basically, if you are looking for budget friendly things to do in Lufkin or Nacogdoches, Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama have you covered everyday of the week.

Friday Night Late Skate

Then, on Friday, March 14th, we are hosting one big party for anyone who can stay up until midnight. The doors open at 7 p.m. for our Spring Break Late Skate, and the festivities continue until midnight. During these five hours of skate time, we will be having games, raffles, prizes, food and fun. Admission is $12, and it’s a great way to celebrate being off of school.

Just because you have decided to save some money by skipping a vacation does not mean that you have to spend every day at home. Come to Skate Ranch or Skate-O-Rama to let your kids be active and have fun. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Most likely, the first thing you do upon entering Skate Ranch or Skate-O-Rama is head to the skate rental counter to get your skates. Yes, it is incredibly convenient not to have to worry about bringing your own and just spend the extra $3 for skate rental at these Texas roller rinks. However, there are quite a few advantages to having your own pair of skates as opposed to relying on the roller rink to provide them.

Owning Skates Can Save Money

Purchasing a pair of your own skates is more of an investment up front, but over the long haul, you will end up saving money by not paying the extra $3 for skate rental every time you come skating.

Your Own Skates are More Comfortable

How many times have you had to guess the appropriate skate size at the counter? Then, you try it on and find, while it is perfectly fine, there is just something kind of off about the fit. Maybe you need the skate to be a little wider or you would like one that rests below the ankle. Well, when you purchase your own skates, you can find one that fits your perfectly. Also, have you noticed that once you wear shoes multiple times that they sort of form to fit your foot? Well, the same thing can happen with skates.

While our rental skates are perfectly acceptable for hours of skating, they don’t really offer a lot of style. When you buy your own, you can make a fashion statement with your skates. Roller skates come in a variety of different colors, and so do the wheels and laces. In fact, with your own skates, you can change the color of the wheels as often as you want.

Spring Break at Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama

Spring Break is quickly approaching in Eastern Texas. Local schools will be on break from March 8 through 16, and we know how parents can struggle to find affordable activities to keep their kids busy during these school breaks. Let us help you enjoy a budget-friendly staycation where you can let your kids burn off their energy on a daily basis. Both of our Texas roller skating rinks, Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama, will be open every day of Spring Break, and we will be heading to the schools on March 3 and 4 to distribute free passes. Make sure you ask your kids for these passes to ensure their safe keeping.

The free passes will have our open hours listed on them, but if you want to go ahead and start planning out your week, Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama will be open:

Monday – Friday 12:00 to 4 p.m.
Monday – Thursday 6 to 9 p.m.
Friday 5 to 7
Friday 7 to 10 for teen night
Saturday 10 a.m. to noon (our lil’ bit skate for skaters 11 and under)
Saturday 12:30 to 5
Saturday 8 to 11 for family fun night ($29 gets you admission for four, four regular drinks and four hot dogs)
Sunday 12:30 to 5

The free passes are valid:

Monday – Friday from 12 to 4
Monday – Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Friday 5 to 7
Saturday 10 to noon and 12:30 to 5
Sunday 12:30 to 5

In addition to the free passes that we will be handing out to the schools, your Kids Skate Free passes will be valid during these times as well. Remember that the free passes do not include skate rental, which is $3. Don’t struggle with trying to find things to do in eastern Texas during Spring Break. Christian Skate Night at Skate Ranch and Skate-O-Rama

Any Lufkin area religious group that is looking for a fun outing or field trip should make plans to attend the upcoming Christian Skate Night at Skate Ranch. This skating party gives your small group, bible study or choir a safe and fun environment to come together and bring your families along, too. We are also hosting a Christian Skate Night at Skate-O-Rama, so Nacogdoches religious groups should take note, too.

The Christian Skate Night is on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at both facilities. This is a wonderful celebration of family, friends and faith. All ages are welcome and encouraged to attend, and admission is only $3 plus skate rental, which is also $3. During those two hours of skating, we’ll be playing contemporary Christian music that provides the perfect beat for skating as well as lifts you up spiritually.

When you are at a loss of things to do with the entire family, roller skating, especially during our Christian Skate Night, is really a perfect solution. It is exercise, it is affordable and it is fun. So tell all your friends and families to come to our Texas roller rinks if they are looking for wholesome things to do with the family.

Valentine’s Late Skate

Valentine’s Day is this Friday, and it’s time to make plans for the evening. One of the best things about Valentine’s Day falling on a Friday is that you can spend the whole weekend celebrating. Skate-O-Rama and Skate Ranch are each hosting a Valentine’s Day late skate from 7 p.m. to midnight. This fantastic party gives you the opportunity to spend Valentine’s Day with all of your sweethearts – your husband/wife and your daughter/son, and then you can head out on Saturday night for a more intimate date with your significant other.

You know that your kids will love spending the holiday with you, especially when you take them to a skating party. There will be great food and fun music as well as games, relays and prizes. The only difference is that since this is our Valentine’s Lake Skate, pairs will be competing instead of individuals. If you are in it to win, make sure you choose your partner wisely. And you can expect more couples skates than usual.

Skate Ranch Now Offers Homeschool Skate Sessions

Skate Ranch is pleased to offer monthly Homeschool skate sessions. These events will be held the last Friday of every month from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and are matinee skating sessions, which means that admission is only $3 and you can use your Kids Skate Free passes. The snack stop will be open for you to purchase drinks and food, and the DJ will play songs from a Christian playlist. Basically, these monthly roller skating sessions are the perfect outing for your homeschoolers.

While there are many advantages to being homeschooled, one thing that kids miss are school functions. We hope by offering these skate sessions that we can fill that void for your student. Every month, your child can skate and get the opportunity to meet other kids who are homeschooled. In addition, you can meet other parents of homeschoolers and share tips and advice that you have learned through your experience.

As we said, the Homeschool Skate Sessions will be the last Friday of every month, beginning this week on January 31, 2014. So, come to our Lufkin, TX roller skating rink for a fun-filled homeschool event.

Have Your Kid’s Next Birthday Party at the Roller Rink

Planning a child’s birthday party can be an overwhelming ordeal. You want to provide your child with a party that he/she will cherish for years to come as well as delight all of his/her friends, but you also don’t want to spend an exuberant amount of money. Due to budget restrictions, many people are resorting to hosting birthday parties at home, but is this really the cheaper option? Let’s break it down and see.

Our basic roller skating birthday party package is only $70, and that is for 10 kids plus the birthday boy/girl, which equates to less than $7 per person. This package includes two hours of rink time, skate rentals, four pitchers of soda, unlimited popcorn, invitations and a party hostess. The only thing you will have to bring in addition is a cake and goody bags. You could easily pull off your child’s birthday party for less than $100, and you don’t have to deal with cleaning up after the party.

So the big question is could you host a party at home for 11 kids and still come in under $100? While you will save money on renting a space, every single detail is now on your shoulders and your wallet. You are responsible for the invitations, snacks, beverages, cake, goody bags and the entertainment. Plus, at home entertainment can still run a hefty price tag, especially if you plan on renting a bounce house or hiring a magician. Then there is also the hassle of actually hosting the party at your house. You need to make sure your house is clean and in “party condition” before everyone arrives, then you have to clean up the destruction once it is over.

Spare yourself the hassle of hosting a party at home, especially since it is not always the cheapest option. Kids Skate Free at our Texas Roller Rinks

It’s time to let our best kept secret out of the bag for all families to take advantage of – KidsSkateFree.com. Both of our Texas roller skating rinks are part of the program, and all you have to do is sign up with an email address to start receiving coupons every week. The passes are valid for kids 12 and younger and do not include skate rentals.

Now is a great time to sign up for Kids Skate Free because the unpredictable winter weather makes it difficult to get outside and play. On the days that it is too cold or raining, you won’t be confined to the house since you have free passes to the roller skating rink. It will be so nice to be able to get the kids out of the house while maintaining your budget.

The passes can be used during the following hours:

Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday 5 to 7 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 5 p.m.
Sunday 12:30 to 5 p.m.

We are big advocates for keeping kids active, and, in our opinion, roller skating is the best option around. By participating in the Kids Skate Free program, we hope that we are providing Lufkin and Nacogdoches with cheap things to do for the family, and making it possible for all kids to enjoy some active play every week.

Skate-O-Rama Is Open!

Roller skating has returned to Nacogdoches since Skate-O-Rama has re-opened after a major renovation. January 1, 2014 was our first day back and we are humbled by the support of the community. Thank you to everyone for coming out to see the new and improved Skate-O-Rama.

We completely gutted the old rink to make way for new construction. In fact, the only thing that we kept from the original structure was the maple floor, but even that got spruced up to enhance its natural beauty and really make it shine. For more specifics about the renovation check out the Daily Sentinel. They wrote a beautiful feature story about our re-opening, and it includes details about what has changed.

With all of the new improvements, there is no denying that Skate-O-Rama is now the perfect destination for roller skating in Nacogdoches. We’ve opened with a new look and new hours:

Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. – Take it Back Tuesday features $1 admission, $1 drinks, hot dogs and pizza slices
Friday 5 to 7 p.m. – Family Skate Friday with $3 admission
Friday 7 to 10 p.m. – Teen Night Friday with $7 admission
Saturday 10 a.m. to noon – Lil’ Bit Skate (for skaters 11 and younger plus their families) with $3 admission
Saturday 12:30 to 5 – Afternoon skate $6 admission
Saturday 8 to 11 p.m. – Family Fun Night where you purchase a family fun pack for $29 and get admission for four, four soft drinks and four hot dogs or one large pizza. Individual admission is $7
Sunday 12:30 to 5 – Lazy Day Skate with $6 admission

Ring in 2014 with Skate Ranch

Who says that New Year’s Eve is for the 21 and over crowd? At Skate Ranch we think as long as you can stay up until midnight, you deserve the opportunity to celebrate. Our annual New Year’s Eve Skate Party begins at 7:00 p.m. on December 31, 2013, and we promise a good time for the whole family.

Not only will the evening be filled with 6 hours of skating, music and food, but we have a few special activities planned in honor of the holiday. We will do a countdown at midnight, and celebrate the stroke of midnight with a balloon drop. Balloons filled with different prizes fall from the ceiling and you’ll have to pop them in order to claim those prizes.

Also, we are bringing back “Wrap the Rink,” a favorite event of the kids. We give out toilet paper and let the kids (and adults if you want to participate, too) go wild. You won’t believe how beautiful the rink can be when it’s decorated in white.

There is no doubt that when it comes to New Year’s Eve events in Lufkin, our party is one of the best deals in town. Admission is $13, and as a Happy New Year present, we are offering free skate rentals. The party begins at 7:00 p.m. and concludes at 1 a.m. Come join our celebration because giving your kids an active evening of skating is a fun alternative to the typical NYE plans of watching the ball drop.
